Family Crest

To create a finished product manually using at least 3 different manufacturing techniques.
Objective
A family crest that symbolizes my families’ best traits. The crest was cast out of bronze and mounted to a wooden plaque. The plaque rests on custom brass and aluminum stands that were machined to be my initials.

The Process
Stanford ME203: Design and Manufacturing
Spring 2023
This class allowed me to improve my manual machining skills while also helping me learn new manufacturing processes such as sand casting. I wanted to express my creativity in a way that I could share with my family. I decided to design this family crest to allow our family to have a unique symbol which we can keep and translate to different formats other than this one plaque. I was very satisfied with how this ended up, looking and hope to make use of the crest I created in future projects.
Sketches and Prototypes
I sketched out all of the different symbols that I thought I could use on the crest and narrowed it down once I decided what fit best, I then used these drawings to prototype what the shape and size of the crest should look like.
